The part midwives play before pregnancy
Most people associate a midwife as someone who helps a woman during delivery. What most people don’t realize is that a midwife is very involved in a lot of things prior to delivery. They play a major role prior to delivery which must not be overlooked. So in this article we are going to go over some of the things they do prior to delivery of a baby.
One major thing that midwives look into is the health of the mother. This is essential not only for the mothers sake, but also to determine if it will be best to employ the services of a midwife for the delivery. Because if they discovered that there might be complications for the pregnancy, they might not consider the possibility of having a home delivery. In other words if the woman’s health has problems that woman could be referred to a doctor. This has comforted many women in my midwives San Diego services knowing if they could have complications or not.
The following they have to determine or check during prenatal care is the health of the baby. A midwife will have in handy all the necessary equipment to make sure that the baby is in tip top condition. They will be able to tell if the heartbeat is fine. They are also knowledgeable to test and see with all the major issues to be concerned about. This is a big benefit women look for in my San Diego midwifery practice.
Lastly, a midwife is able to assist and take care of the health of both the baby and mother until delivery. Obviously things can change during a pregnancy so regular visits will help monitor. These regular check ups will help the mother know if there is anything that comes up that needs to be checked out. This is very important to many women I see in my home birth midwife San Diegopractice.
So as you can see just because you use a midwife doesn’t mean a lot of the normal care will not be there. In fact, the level of nurturing you may get from a midwife could be a lot more.

Pregnancies and how midwives can help them
When a woman is pregnant there are some choices to be made. She needs to go choose a doctor that suits her needs and wants. They need to choose a hospital whre they would deliver their babies. And there a few other things. What most women don’t realize they can also choose a natural delivery. That is when mothers do not want drugs to be administered on them during the delivery itself. As a lot more people become health-conscious this method is gaining popularity.Midwifery is the one profession that can hep in this kind of situation.
What is really the use of midwifery? It is the practice of assisting women to give birth naturally. There are other defintions. But this defintion is the simplest one. As a San Diego licensed midwife that is the job which is to help a woman attempt to deliver naturally. There can be a lot of benefits from this. The main benefit, of course, is the use of no drugs at all during the delivery. Plus without using drugs it actually helps the delivery proceed faster.Because drugs administered to the mother can actually slow down the delivery itself.
Now not only are women attempting to deliver naturally there are some choosing the home. They are choosing the home to deliver their baby. This different from what people are usually doing. But it offers a lot of benefits. As a midwives San Diego I have been able to see these benefits firsthand. Some of those benefits is a more private environment for the mom. There is also no need for surgical procedures because the way of giving birth is natural.
Now of course there are some objections. Some say there are safety concerns. But this factor should not be a big deal if the pregnancy is a low risk one. Now of course it isn’t recommended if the pregnancy is considered high risk. In my San Diego midwife practice I always advise my clients to go with the normal delivery in a hospital if it is high risk.So that if anything happens it can be immediately attended to by a doctor.

The safety of a homebirth
One of the choices women have during pregnancy is how they will deliver. When I say how they will deliver I am referring to a hospital delivery or a homebirth. Most women think that homebirth is not a safe method to give birth that is why they do not realize that they have a choice on how to deliver their babies. But of course there will be skeptics who don’t believe in this method. But if they just research and look for studies about this method then they will realize that there a lot of evidence that this method is safe.
The safety of a homebirth is definitely questioned. From my observations from my practice as a midwife in San Diego I have found it to be absolutely safe. I have witnessed 300 homebirths and I can say that the dangers are just the same either you deliver a baby at home or at the hospital.Having a baby in the hospital or at home doesn’t make any difference in minimizing those risks. On the ohter hand, the risks also would not increase because of this.
So what are some of the dangers? One reason is that complications might happen while giving birth and this worries people. They presume that the people who administer homebirths are not nurses and they are not medically inclined. Well as a midwives San Diego we do know medical procedures. We carry the necessary medical equipment for all the common complications.A doctor is obviously needed whenever any serious complications arise from gving birth at home. But that isn’t any different then in a hospital.
Women who have low risk pregnancies are the only women recommended for homebirths. If a woman is found to have possible complications any good midwife would not encourage this method. This is standard procedure for all licensed midwife in San Diego. The reason as to why is because midwives have a limited medical practice and they cannot do all the things that a doctor can do. That is why they do make sure any high risk pregnancies are delivered in a hospital.
It will be very hard to convince those people who are not keen on undergoing this method. But for those women who see this as an alternative they should understand it is safe.

Positive things from giving birth through water birth
One of the ways of having a baby that isn’t common but is gaining in some popularity is water birth. It isn’t the usual way of having a baby on a medical bed.But it is safe to use in giving birth to a baby.
So what we are going to do is take a look at this particular process of giving birth and looking at its advantages. These are going to come from experience that I have gained as a midwife in San Diego.Water birth is the method of giving birth to a baby while the mother is submerged in water. Usually in a tub of warm water. It is said to be good for the baby because the baby also lived in a similar environment for almost 9 months. It is one way for the babies to get adjusted because they also have been in water for almost 9 months.
It is also shown in studies that it helps in pain management. To hear that is a big relief for women. Medicine is rarely used in this kind of delivery method. I have performed many without medicine as well as many other homebirth midwife San Diego I have spoken with.
Is water birthing a safe way to deliver a baby?It is safe for the babies and mothers most of the time as we can learn from the studies on this process. There are just a few cases when it isn’t safe to use because of certain medical conditions of the patient. I have had that happen in my waterbirth San Diego service. The best thing to do is consult a doctor first.
Water birthing has another benefit in reduction of skin tears. It can be a very painful experience during delivery. But undergoing through water birthing will reduce those pains.Because it eases the skin.
If you follow these procedures this could be a choice of delivery for you.It has a lot of benefits for both the baby and the mother. But go see and ask your doctor first if this is the right method for you.
