Its Party Time In The Family
It is without doubt great when family and friends come together and celebrate important events like birthdays, anniversary and festivals. Our family is close knit and I am extremely close to my parents and sister. My sister and I are married for many years now, but we very often visit our parents. So, last year when my parents completed the landmark of 30 years of marriage we decided to celebrate the event in a big manner.
My father wanted it to be a family affair but we persuaded him to let us organize a big party so that the extended family and friends could come together and have a good time. So, a month before the anniversary date along with my sister got busy with the preparation of the party. Along with my mother we jotted down the guest list which worked out to be hundred people.
Once the guest list was prepared it was time to start thinking for other things for the party. We did not want a very formal event instead we wanted our guests to have full blown fun. Luckily for us our parents are a fun loving couple and enjoy adventure holidays and camping. Since we wanted to give a very personal touch to the whole event it was my sister’s idea to host the party in the garden of my parent’s house which was big enough to accommodate hundred people. A party without a good music is an excuse for a party. My sister went to a local club and spoke to the band there who agreed to play at the party. She also gave them the list of favorite songs of my parents which they would perform.
A good party is always known for its food; therefore catering is a very integral part of it. I wanted the food, presentation and service of an high quality. I thought it would be more comfortable for the guests if the food is served buffet style which would be better and easy. I was very confused to choose the right caterer for the party when a colleague at work came to my help. She recommended checking the catering service which her cousin owns and the he is an expert in arranging food for cocktail parties and dinner. On her recommendation I visited her cousin and to my relief I found the best caterer for the party. I wanted the food to be eclectic with a lot of variety in entrees and the main course followed by dessert. He also agreed on arranging the anniversary cake which was also one of the major attractions of the party.
The in charge of arranging the decoration for the party was my sister and she got contacted professional party planners for it. As the party was being held out in the open we briefed the decorators to ensure that there was enough privacy. We also got support form our neighbors as they agreed to give their parking space for the cars.
Just a day before the party my mom called to tell me that the guest room of the house had maintenance problems. Some guests who lived in another city were coming to participate the party were supposed to stay at my parents house. As she was preparing the room for them, she noticed some faults in the bathroom. The air conditioning was not working smoothly and the roof of room seemed broken.
The guest were supposed to arrive the same evening and we had very little time at hand to get the room rectified and make it fit for stay. My sister instantly called Pueblo plumbers to replace the broken faucets in the bathroom. Electricians in Pueblo were summoned to take care of the air conditioning in the room. I instantly called Pueblo roofers to mend the damage on the roof.
Just hours before the guests reached the room was fixed and perfectly arranged for their stay. The next day was the anniversary. To our delight the party was a success. The music, food and decoration everything was perfect. The guests enjoyed themselves and our parents were very moved by our hard work. Everyone had a good time and later called and thanked us for arranging such a fabulous party.
