On Celebrating Mother’s Day Creatively
To celebrate Mother’s Day, most people will buy a card, flowers, chocolates, or possibly if they live nearby, take their mother out to dinner or breakfast. These are the usual gifts that are given by children. However, if you make something or plan a more creative day, then it will be remembered longer and appreciated that much more. More time, energy and organization may be needed, but that in itself is part of the pleasure of doing something nice for your mother.
One way to start the day off in a special way for your mom is relatively common, which is breakfast in bed. If you want to make it a more creative action, and therefore a bit more special, consider making the breakfast as grand as possible. There are plenty of Mothers Day recipes out there that will help you make a special breakfast, even if you can’t cook well; take the time to make the presentation as special as possible as well. A tablecloth, a vase with flowers, even playing a song on an instrument if you can will help add an extra bit of atmosphere to the morning.
To celebrate Mother’s Day in a different and unique way can be to hide small gifts around the house and give your mother clues that she needs to follow in order to find her presents. With young children, this is a lot of fun because they can be helped to do Mother’s Day crafts and then wrap them and hide them. Older children or even adult children can get together and make certain gifts that they know mean a lot to their mother and create a hunt for her to find these special gifts. Another version of the same idea is to make it a theme treasure hunt and the theme could be around a craft or hobby that mom likes.
Finally, you can also make it a happy Mother’s Day with a party. Usually Mother’s Day is spent with close family but, if you have a large family or divorced parents with second families, then a party could be a solution providing everyone is on good terms. This party could have a theme of mothers, so those attending could show up dressed as famous mothers from history or television, and games, such as trivial pursuit, could be played.
It really doesn’t matter how you celebrate Mother’s Day, as long as you try to make it a day that she will remember fondly. From simple creative gestures like writing Mothers Day poems to organized events that take up the majority of the day, there is always something that can be done to make the day stand out from all the other days in the year. A bit of time invested in making this day more than a five minute giving of flowers can really make your mother happy and make you feel good about yourself as well.
