Kids Growing Smarter and Smarter
My boy is a decade old and I have to admit he could be a enormous trouble maker. He makes up an excuse for any sort of trouble he is getting into and he knows exactly what to do to get out of these eventualities. I often find myself dazzled at his ingenuity in creating stories and plans to get out of trouble. I only hope he uses these talents for good when he grows up.
I recall one day where it was announced that some periodical tests were being administered at school. Instead of studying for the test, my child instead did what he loved best, which was play cricket the entire week even though the tests were being administered the very following monday. I pleaded him to take a break in order to study, but he lie to me and related the tests were being pushed back another month or so. I never heard about tests being pushed back for such a long period of time but I gave my son the benefit of the doubt. I wish I knew better. My son hatched one of his evil stories again.
Well the following three weeks went by and I had since accepted his lie. However, as we finished the end of the month I made a decision to remind him again that he should be studying because the pushed back tests were coming up again and he wanted to do well. As normal, he was tied up doing what he did best, play Playstation games. He innocently responded that the tests were really given a month prior and he had already finished them. He then continued gaming as if we never even had a conversation.
My child lied so well to me that it was like buying a Louis Vuitton fake handbag and pretending it was real. That’s how good his lies were. You never knew they were even a lie unless you looked very tightly. I was saddened that my child went to such lengths to lie to me. I asked him how he did demanding to know what he scored and lied again announcing he did the best. I needed to scream at him. It felt like he was throwing a Louis Vuitton fake purse in my face, and I thought it was real. I demanded to see explanation of the results . He then got up and showed me the results . Amazingly, he was telling the truth. He got all A’s in every subject. It appears he really is similar to a Louis Vuitton fake handbag in that his lies were just about true.
I was mystified about whether to be happy that my son did so well on tests or insane thanks to the fact that he constantly lies to me. I sat him down for a talk and made certain that he knew I appreciated his efforts on the test. I then asked him how he was able to get such scores since he never studied and was always playing. He simply told me that he had the power to keep things really easily and he only has to hear or see something once and he recollects it forever. I was amazed. My boy turned out to be a genius, but that still didn’t excuse him for lying. Although was very pleased to discover my sons extraordinary abilities, I berated him for lying and trained him accordingly .
