Creating an Acne Diet that Works for You
Being on an acne diet is a very fascinating idea. Hasn’t everybody heard that chocolate will give you pimples? Everybody has. As a result, it does not seem so far-fetched that what you eat could prevent acne instead of cause it.
However, an acne diet can be a hard thing to develop. It is highly personal and based on your body’s unique responses to food. There are guidelines, but your progress will largely be trial and error. Observe and make note of any changes in your skin. Write it all down. You could even take pictures a few times a week. So if and when your skin clears up, stay on the diet you were on at the time.
Here are some simple rules to get you started on an acne diet:
1. Increase your protein intake. Some dermatologists even believe that protein intake is connected to having clear skin. The reason for this belief is because protein has an enzyme that will limit the production of oils. Oily skin tends to be more prone to breakouts.
2. Carbohydrates are not good. You do not need to cut out carbs completely. But you should try to limit your intake so that they are about 40 percent of your diet. This is because there are compounds in carbohydrates that can stimulate oil production. This is why so many people think that junk food causes acne. But actually junk food just is pretty high in carbs.
3. Drink green tea. Drinking the real stuff is the best. The kind of green tea that you brew is the best kind. You really may not like the real green tea so the natural green tea drinks will work Green tea will limit the creation of androgen. Androgen is a hormone that will cause your skin to breakout.
4. Limit your total intake of salt. Salt most always contains iodine. This is why table salt is usually called “iodized salt.” Of course for some people with acne, iodine can cause big breakouts.
You must always be careful of what you eat and put on your face. You already know what is in your beauty products if you have acne. Natural and organic skin care lines are the best acne prone skin. These are least likely to cause a breakout. Consider switching over to mineral makeup. By using mineral makeup you may actually ease acne problems and increase the results of your acne diet.
